Yes, custom fields - for us, they are called “Groups” and we use tags.  
Flexibility within the company would be nice - but sending all clients within a company the same task set would be fine, especially if we could further refine the groups using the custom fields!

Would love to add my +1 to the ability to send mass tasks to clients - preferably by group rather than company.  
Related: ability to assign tasks to a company, but the tasks repeat for each person in the company and are not collaboratively completed.  
Extra credit: scheduling feature for tasks.
